'He's in a hell of a hole': Trump given notice it's all falling apart
A combination of an unpopular war with Iran, the looming cloud over the Jeffrey Epstein files, and plummeting poll numbers has Donald Trump on the ropes, claimed Axios founder Jim VandeHei on Thursday morning.
Taking part in a panel examining Donald Trump’s rally in Kentucky on Wednesday, the editor agreed that Trump has lost touch with his base and has no idea how put out all the fires his administration is facing, which is also dragging Republicans down.
“Republicans are frustrated that he seems indifferent to what happens in these House and Senate races,” VandeHei reported. “Truthfully, I think he is indifferent because he feels like whatever I can bomb or I can bully, or I can do things outside of the congressional process. I don't really care that much about lawmaking as long as I can exert power.”
“And he finds ways to exert power without Congress being involved in it,” he continued before exclaiming, “But he's in a hell of a hole, and I think that hole is getting bigger for Republicans.”
“The polls are awful top to bottom and that's why Republicans feel like they're undoubtedly going to lose the House might lose the Senate,” he added. “They look at Texas, and they're like, what the hell is going on? You see this surge of enthusiasm there for Democrats. You don't see the same for Republicans.”
