Video Captures Massive Tornado With 150 MPH Winds and 6-Inch Hail Wreaking Destruction

On March 10, 2026, three videos from FOX Weather exclusive storm trackers Corey Gerken and Brandon Copic were published on the outlet's official X account. All three shared harrowing footage of a storm system that looked so fearsome that it almost seemed like something out of a movie. One of the videos showed huge debris and a massive tornado crossing a highway in front of the pair's vehicle. The clip also included audio that revealed that even a veteran storm chaser was affected by what they were seeing.

Another video, which began with some of the same footage, highlighted the destructive nature of the tornado. First, it showed giant debris that was being tossed by the wind as if it were nothing, including something large that went rolling near the vehicle. Then, it revealed that a giant piece of hail fell with so much force that it cracked the vehicle's windshield and a wiper was destroyed. A third video, which can be seen below, showed a windshield that had clearly been destroyed due to several large pieces of hail falling, which caused spiderwebs of cracks to spread from many impact points.
The three videos combined to paint a staggering picture of how destructive the tornado truly was. Tragically, however, news reports about the weather conditions prove that the effects were even worse than those clips could show.

On March 11, Fox Weather published an article that highlighted the tornadoes that struck the Midwest in Lake Village, Indiana and Kankakee, Illinois. The report tragically confirmed that two people had died due to the conditions and several others had suffered injuries. The outlet also reported on demolished buildings and destroyed homes being created by the paths of destruction that were left in the tornadoes' wakes.
Reports about the severity of the tornadoes are staggering to consider. Fox Weather reported that the National Weather Service had confirmed that 150 mph winds struck in Illinois, making it an EF-3 event. It also stated that 6-inch hail had fallen in Kankakee, which it said, "would set a new Illinois state record if verified by the National Weather Service." Additionally, KJRH 2 Oklahoma's Chief Meteorologist, Mike Collier, posted on Facebook that a 6.5-inch chunk of hail had been measured.
