Chelsea players who could leave the club this summer
Since the new regime took over at Chelsea, the club has made it a habit of signing players on contract terms that are longer than usual.
It’s a strategic move that gives the club the upper hand during negotiations, particularly when it comes to offloading players, although it could also be a double-edged sword in such scenarios.
Nevertheless, it has worked in favour of the club so far, as it reduces the prospect of being backed into a corner by players who have one year left on their contracts.
At the moment, every senior Chelsea player has at least two years left to run on their existing contracts, except academy graduate Tyrique George, whose deal expires in the summer of 2027.
With Chelsea in a decent position in terms of contracts, we’ve switched our attention to nine players who could leave the club in the summer.
That includes players who will be returning from loan spells at the end of the season.
Tosin Adarabioyo
When Adarabioyo first joined Chelsea from Fulham on a free transfer in the summer of 2024, he was considered a shrewd acquisition by the Blues.
However, two years down the line, and he’s one of the first names on the chopping block.
Over the past 12 months, Adarabioyo has repeatedly failed to prove he has what it takes to compete at the highest level and will likely be the first to make way this summer.
The 28-year-old has made 24 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea this season, but has started in just 14 of those games.
With Chelsea recalling Mamadou Sarr from his loan spell at RC Strasbourg and the club likely to sign another centre-back this summer, Adarabioyo may be on borrowed time at Stamford Bridge.
Marc Guiu
Marc Guiu could also make way this summer, having barely kicked a ball for the Blues this season.
The Spanish striker initially joined Sunderland on a season-long loan but was recalled almost immediately, with Chelsea dealing with an injury crisis up front.
However, since his return, Guiu has only featured 15 times across all competitions. He has only started in six of those games, and most of them came in the EFL Cup.
Chelsea are unlikely to cash in on Guiu permanently this summer, but the young striker will likely leave on loan to make way for fresh recruits.
Liam Delap
Liam Delap has also struggled to impress during his time at Chelsea.
The Blues paid £30 million to snap him up from Ipswich Town after a campaign where he bagged 12 Premier League goals, but he has struggled to replicate that form in a Chelsea shirt.
The 23-year-old has scored just twice in 23 games across all competitions for Chelsea this season and may be one of those who heads out on loan in the summer.
With Emmanuel Emegha coming in from RC Strasbourg, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see Delap head in the other direction to secure more playing time.
