Noah Kahan Slams 'Scummy,' Parasitic' Paparazzi After Chappell Roan Incident
Noah Kahan is showing his support for Chappell Roan.
Over the weekend, the “Good Luck, Babe!” singer, 28, was bombarded by a group of photographers and fans while making her way into a restaurant for dinner. In a viral clip filmed by someone in the crowd, Roan can be seen recording the situation herself and calling out the group for what she described as “harassing” behavior.
Kahan's Comments
On Tuesday, March 10, Kahan jumped in to defend the singer through a series of Instagram Stories that have since expired. This comes as some fans have criticized Roan for not being cut out for fame.
The “Stick Season” artist, 29, reposted Billboard’s coverage of the incident before weighing in with his thoughts. “Maybe they should just idk leave her alone?” he wrote.
But, he didn’t stop there.
“Also those dudes saying ‘I’m a huge fan’ following her around are scalpers and are as bad as the paparazzi,” he added, per the outlet. “F**k em all.”

Kahan went on to defend the artist even further, sharing an Instagram video where he expanded on his perspective about the situation.
“These people literally find out where you’re staying, where you’re flying in to, where your team, family, whoever is staying — they are clearly not your fans, they just sit outside places so they can try to guilt you into signing s**t so they can sell it," he said.
The singer then explained that he thinks those encounters are often misunderstood by people watching the videos online.
“They trick people like you who are just watching the video and don’t know what’s going on into thinking that someone’s being rude to one of their fans, when they’re really just manipulating you,” he said. “They’re scummy, they’re manipulative, they’re parasitic, and, yeah. F**k them, seriously. Don’t feel bad for them.”

Why Is Chappell Roan Under Fire?
Roan — whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz — made headlines on March 10 after posting a video of her own about the encounter. In the clip, the Grammy winner explained that she felt “disregarded as a human” while dealing with a group of photographers and fans outside.
"I’m just trying to go to dinner, and I’ve asked these people several times to get away from me," she said in the footage.
Pointing out one person in particular, Roan emphasized, "This person I’ve asked several times to go away, and they will not. They’re hiding their face because they’re ashamed — because I’ve asked them."
The artist went on to say that the people surrounding her were ignoring her clearly stated boundaries, regardless of her celebrity status.
"All of you, I’m asking you kindly to please leave me alone and stop following me and harassing me," Roan said.
When one fan asked her to sign something, she declined.
"I'm not gonna sign<' she said. "This is what it’s like, if you were wondering how it is," she added while continuing to film the situation.

The singer appeared to be in Paris when the video was taken, where she has been seen multiple times for Paris Fashion Week. She has recently attended shows for several major fashion houses, including Acne Studios, Mugler, Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen.
This is far from the first time Roan has spoken about the pressure and criticism that can come with pushing back against this kind of treatment. During a May 2025 appearance on the iHeartPodcast series Outlaws with TS Madison, she addressed being labeled a “villain” for speaking out about how pop stars are treated in public spaces.
"I’ve been treated better at my donut shop job than I have on a f***ing carpet," she said at the time. "People on the news treat me worse than how customers did."
