Maxx out, Trey in: Ravens agree to sign edge rusher Hendrickson
The Ravens are out on Maxx Crosby and in on Trey Hendrickson.
Less than a day after trade deal for the Raiders star fell through after he reportedly failed the Ravens' physical, the Ravens agreed to sign Hendrickson Wednesday morning. The former Bengals star will get $112 million over four years, per ESPN.
Signing Hendrickson will do nothing to dissuade pockets of the league from believing that the Ravens simply got cold feet about trading for Crosby, who is just two months removed from having knee surgery. Rather than give up two first-round picks for Crosby and his three-year, $106.5 million contract, the Ravens had to part with less money per year and no picks to land Hendrickson.
Hendrickson played only seven games last year but had a whopping 17 ½ sacks in each of the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
The Bears, of course, remain in the market for edge-rush help. They monitored the Crosby market the first time around and at one point were the gambling favorite to land him.
The Raiders seem unlikely to be able to fetch two first-round picks for Crosby now, given the amount of spending most teams around the league have done since the start of legal tampering Monday.
Time will tell whether the Raiders look to move Crosby again or try to fix their soured relationship with their once and future star.
