Abducted Crossroads Hotel Boss Sameer Sacranie Found Alive
Crossroads Hotel managing director Sameer Sacranie, who was abducted last month, has been found safe and has returned home, police have confirmed.
National Police spokesperson Lael Chimtembo said Sacranie walked home around 11:30pm on Tuesday night.
“He is safe. He walked home last night around 11:30,” Chimtembo told Nation Online.
However, Chimtembo said police could not immediately disclose where Sacranie had been during the period he was missing or the circumstances surrounding his release.
He said the police will issue a detailed statement on the matter soon.
Sacranie was abducted on February 6 around 10:30am at his office within the Crossroads Hotel premises. Reports indicate that three men dressed in white robes ambushed him as he arrived for work, fired two shots into the air and forced him into a Toyota Fortuner before fleeing the scene.
Police later recovered the suspected getaway vehicle abandoned in Area 6. The vehicle reportedly had two different registration numbers—KA 1444 and KK1008.
Last month, police said they had identified persons of interest in the case and were working closely with the victim’s family as investigations continued.
More details are expected to follow.
