A Prayer For God To Remove What Isn’t Meant For You
Finding peace starts with surrendering our worries to the universe and trusting that God’s guidance will meet us in the middle of our uncertainty. Best-selling author of Finding God Every Day, Rebecca Simon, reminds us to trust God’s timing, embrace patience, and lean on His presence through every season of life.
This prayer is for the person who can feel something shifting but doesn’t know what to do with the uncertainty. For the one who’s tired of forcing doors that don’t open and holding onto things that don’t hold them back. For the one who wants to trust God deeply but still feels that ache when something slips through their fingers.
Ask God to remove what isn’t meant for you — not because you want an easier life, but because you want a truer one. One that isn’t built on anxiety, fear, or attachment, but on alignment. One where what remains is what’s strong enough to stay, and what leaves is what was never going to carry you into your future.
God,
You see the things I hold onto out of fear, the people I cling to out of habit, and the paths I try to force because I want answers before their time. Nothing is hidden from you.
Today, I’m asking not just for the strength to receive what’s meant for me, but for the courage to release what isn’t. Remove what keeps me small. Untangle me from what drains me. Close the doors that would lead me away from who you’re shaping me to become. And when you say “no” help me trust that it’s still love.
If something isn’t aligned with your purpose, let it fall away gently. If someone cannot go where you’re leading me, ease the distance.
And if I’m carrying anything you never asked me to hold, give me the peace to let it go.
Clear my path – not to make life easy, but to make it honest. Make room in me for what will sustain me. Keep me close to what is true, what is yours, and what will last.
I trust you with what stays, with what leaves, and with what comes next.
Amen.
