Pentagon Says 140 US Troops Injured in Iran Conflict
The US Department of Defense says about 140 American military personnel have been injured during ongoing clashes with Iran. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said most of the injuries were minor.
Parnell said the majority of the wounded service members have already recovered enough to return to duty. According to the Pentagon, 108 injured troops have resumed their assignments.
However, the Pentagon confirmed that eight American soldiers suffered serious injuries during the conflict. The figures highlight the growing human cost of the military confrontation between Washington and Tehran.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt provided similar figures during a press briefing and said a previous report by Reuters that about 150 US soldiers were injured was accurate.
Meanwhile, Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal expressed strong dissatisfaction after attending a classified briefing on the conflict with Iran. He said the session left him with more questions than answers.
The United States and Iran have been engaged in escalating military confrontations in recent weeks, raising concerns about a wider regional conflict in the Middle East.
Rising tensions have also drawn international attention, with analysts warning that involvement by other global powers could further complicate the situation.
Blumenthal warned that the United States could be moving toward deeper military involvement in Iran and expressed concern about possible support for Tehran from countries such as Russia or China.
