US Says It Destroyed 10 Iranian Bomb Boats in Strait of Hormuz
US President Donald Trump said the American military destroyed 10 Iranian bomb-laden boats in the past few hours, describing the operation as a success in protecting key shipping routes in the Gulf.
Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that he was pleased with the report and suggested that more strikes against similar targets could follow in the coming hours.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also shared Trump’s statement on X, saying the bomb boats had been inactive and were targeted in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Hegseth warned that the United States would not allow what he described as terrorists to hold the Strait of Hormuz hostage, addressing what he called Iran’s “weakened regime.”
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical maritime routes, carrying a significant share of global oil shipments and frequently becoming a flashpoint during regional tensions.
The ongoing war involving Iran, Israel and the United States has raised fears of wider conflict across the Middle East, with military strikes reported in several areas.
Reports from various sources indicate that the fighting has already resulted in significant military and civilian casualties, while infrastructure damage has also increased across parts of the region.
Iranian officials have not yet publicly responded to the US claim about the destruction of the bomb boats, as tensions between the sides continue to rise.
