World Cup 2026 – The standout games in Canada
Bettors planning to wager on the 2026 World Cup in Canada this summer will be able to choose from hundreds of different markets on each game.
The opening Group B game in Toronto on June 12 will trigger a betting frenzy as Canadian fans back the co-hosts to emerge victorious.
Their opponents have yet to be confirmed, although Italy are the favourites to book their place at the tournament by winning the play-offs in March.
Canada’s other group-stage games against Qatar (July 18) and Switzerland (July 24) will also generate plenty of activity in the online betting industry.
There are two intriguing games sandwiched in between those clashes – Germany vs Ivory Coast (July 20) and New Zealand vs Egypt (June 21).
Germany will head into the World Cup with a point to prove after failing to live up to expectations in several major tournaments over the past few years.
They will be tested by Ivory Coast, who performed well at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) before being defeated by Egypt in the quarter-final.
Egypt were subsequently beaten by Senegal in the last four, continuing their recent trend of falling short in big matches.
They will be the favourites to beat New Zealand, but would be well advised not to underestimate their opponents in Vancouver.
The Kiwis were impressive in the Oceanic qualifiers and have several players who could cause Egypt’s defence plenty of problems.
They include Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood, who has scored 45 goals in 88 appearances for the national team.
New Zealand will play another eye-catching game against Belgium five days later. The European team are rated as 50/1 shots to lift the prestigious trophy.
Canada is also scheduled to stage three games in the knockout stage – two round of 32 ties (July 2) and a round of 16 fixture (July 7).
