Abortion Providers Don’t Deserve Our Appreciation

The calendar is crammed with commemorative holidays that are funny, or interesting or even ludicrous. Coming up May 8, we have No Socks Day. Hairball Awareness Day is marked the last Friday of every April. On April 23, we have Talk Like Shakespeare Day.
These are lighthearted days, not to be taken too seriously. Then there are those that are more important, like the National Day of Prayer recognized in early May every year.
But a day “celebrated” every year on March 10 is an affront to humanity.
Since 1996, a small but deeply disturbed group of abortion extremists mark “Abortion Provider Appreciation Day,” a day, according to the Abortion Care Network, to “celebrate everyone who provides abortion care,” and “recognize abortion as an act of community care, love, hope, justice, and liberation.”
In reality, abortion is the opposite of those things and the people who practice it should not be celebrated.
The abortion cartel has produced many monsters, like Kermit Gosnell and Steven Brigham. But it’s the casual cruelty of the abortionists in the stories told by the women of Silent No More that I think of every year when this macabre “Appreciation Day” comes around
The doctor came in and didn’t say one word to me, no questions, no last thoughts. He turned on the machine and a loud noise rang in my ears, and he began the procedure. I was writhing in pain. I was cramping and felt like my insides were being ripped out of me. The nurse did not hold my hand to comfort me. I screamed so loud, I know my mother could hear me but no one came to rescue me.
When it was over, the doctor turned off the machine, told me to take ibuprofen for pain, and seek medical attention if I notice blood clotting.
No one spoke to me at the clinic. There were three nurses and a doctor. No sedation or anesthesia for pain. Two nurses held me down. Horrified over what was happening to me and my baby, I began to cry out. A nurse placed a washcloth in my mouth, telling me to bite down on it. My screams were stifled.
How shall we show our appreciation to these people who have chosen not to provide health care, but to kill for profit? The Abortion Care Network suggests throwing a party, sponsoring a happy hour or sending flowers and cards.
How would the women from Silent No More inscribe those cards?
- Thank you for aborting the only child I will ever conceive
- Thank you for perforating my uterus and tearing my cervix
- Thank you for prescribing the pills that caused me to bleed uncontrollably until I finally had to go to the hospital
Abortion is not health-care, it is a business. If you had any lingering doubts about that, you should be convinced by the announcement from Planned Parenthood Mar Monte in California, the abortion seller’s largest affiliate, that they have started offering Botox injections and laser hair removal to make back some of the funding President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill cost them.
Abortion providers and their staffs don’t need our appreciation. They need our prayers to help them see that what they are doing is wrong and that they should stop immediately.
Maybe what we need is a National Stop Doing Abortions Day – and to work toward a goal of making that day a daily celebration.
