Tottenham players will be wary of referee chosen for Atletico Madrid clash
UEFA have revealed the officials who will take charge of Tottenham’s Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid.
Normally, one would expect Spurs fans to be excited about a round of 16 Champions League clash against a club of Atletico’s stature.
However, given the disaster that is unfolding for the club in the Premier League, there is a feeling of unrest and fear among everyone assosiated with Tottenham.
In fact, Igor Tudor has said that every league game Spurs have left is a ‘final’, which perhaps suggests that the Champions League will not be the Croat’s main focus.

Tottenham players will have to maintain their discipline against Atletico Madrid
UEFA have revealed that it will be an entirely Dutch officiating team that will take charge of Tuesday’s clash at the Metropolitano Stadium.
Serdar Gozubuyuk will referee the clash between Spurs and Atletico, with Patrick Inia and Rogier Honig as his assistants and Jeroen Manschot named as the fourth official.
According to WhoScored, Gozubuyuk has only taken charge of five Champions League matches in his career, but he has been very quick to go to his notebook, having handed out 21 yellow cards in those matches.
That brings it to 4.2 yellow cards per match for the Dutch referee, which is considerably more than his 3.67 average in the Eredivisie.
That means that Tottenham players will have to ensure that they stay on their feet and show some discipline, which has not been one of their strengths this season.
Formidable Spurs defensive duo will return
It has been a while since Spurs fans have seen Cristian Romero in action, as the Argentine has been serving a four-match suspension in the Premier League.
Romero looks set to start for the first time under Tudor, and the Croat will also have the benefit of naming Micky van de Ven alongside the Tottenham captain.
With Van de Ven suspended for Tottenham’s clash at Anfield on Sunday, it is extremely unlikely that the Dutchman would be rested for the club’s trip to the Spanish capital.
