'A Lot of You Would Fall For This': Xbox Hilariously Teases 'Resident Evil Requiem' Fans
It's been a couple of weeks since the critically-acclaimed release of Resident Evil Requiem, and a couple of weeks since the Phil Spencer, Sarah Bond, and Xbox crisis was made public. Now, and in a turn of at least a somewhat positive way, Xbox is having a little bit of fun with Requiem fans.
In a post to X by the official Xbox account, the account posted a photo of a finicky cardboard box "trap," underneath which is a picture of Leon S. Kennedy. The account captioned the post with, "A lot of you would fall for this."
Leon's attractiveness as a 49-year-old in Requiem garnered quite a bit of online attention upon his reveal for the game, with many fans praising his appearance and muscle mass, pleasing all types of fans.
Speaking to IGNback in January, Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi spoke about designing the "hot uncle" version of Leon, and also discussed how a lot of female staff members spent a lot of time reviewing his design.
"We've spent quite a lot of time polishing Leon's visuals," said Nakanishi when asked about Leon's appearance. "Leon has many fans among Capcom employees, and women in particular were pretty strict when reviewing his design."
"They would point out and comment on even the finest details like the wrinkles on his neck," Nakanishi continued.
In the replies on Xbox's post, the comments are full of men and women jokingly agreeing with Xbox that they would fall for the clumsy Leon S. Kennedy trap. "Who wouldn't?" asked X user Juniper. Xbox replied with, "We'd be hard-pressed to find someone who would be able to avoid this."
In the wake of the shake-up at Xbox, and with Resident Evil Requiem becoming an early frontrunner for Game of the Year and being available on the platform, it seems like Xbox is at least committed to having fun with games and fans.
Resident Evil Requiem is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
