New Nintendo Switch 2 'Pokémon Pokopia' Game Price Quietly Changed--Twice
Pokémon Pokopia was released last week to critical success, even briefly overtaking Resident Evil Requiem on Metacritic as the highest-rated game of 2026 so far. Commercially, the game is also presumably a massive hit, so much so that some fans may have to end up paying more for the game if they've been holding off on purchasing, but the game's pricing may still be a question mark.
On Amazon, both the physical version and the digital code version of Pokémon Pokopia are now listed at $69.99. Earlier today, it was reported by fans and several outlets (such as IGN) that the game suddenly shot up in price to $79.99, which IGN confirmed and grabbed a screenshot of. Now, the price has gone back down--for now.
Amazon is one of the few retailers that has stock available for Pokémon Pokopia, as the high demand, ongoing concerns regarding global tariffs, and general market instability have likely limited the supply of the physical version of the game in several parts of the world.
Yesterday, Christopher Dring, editor-in-chief and co-founder of The Game Business, reported that "Pokémon Pokopia was seriously undersupplied at UK retail. Its launch physical sales are not even half of what Legends: Z-A did."
This also isn't the first time Amazon has briefly raised prices on Nintendo Switch 2 games. Also reported by IGN, Resident Evil Requiem was briefly priced at $76.84, instead of the standard MSRP of $69.99, before the price was dropped back down.
Nintendo has not released any official statements on Nintendo Switch 2 pricing variables, or if more price changes can be expected for Pokémon Pokopia or future Nintendo Switch 2 releases. Currently, the physical version of Pokémon Pokopia is sold out on Nintendo's official website.
Pokémon Pokopia is available now for Nintendo Switch 2.
