Gerber recently launched the newest and perhaps most useful version of its popular Gerber Stakeout multi-tool, the Stakeout Drive. Gerber launched the original Stakeout back in 2022 with a clear focus on the outdoors enthusiast. The original stakeout includes such camping focused tools as a tent puller and wood saw along with a carabiner style clip. Since then Gerber has released various versions of the Stakeout (I own the Stakeout Spark, which features a ferro rod for starting fires in the backwoods).

The Drive is a departure from this outdoors focused multi-tool design. Whereas the Spark is purely a camping tool, the Drive is a multitool you can use on a daily basis. The major addition to the Drive version of the Stakeout is a flip bit driver and Phillips head driver, which make it ideal for quick repairs around the house (the original Spark and its other versions lack any drivers). A storage slot in the handle holds an extra bit. The other addition to the Drive is a three-grit file.
The Drive does retain the 2.4-inch blade, scissors and two pliers types–needlenose and standard– all of which are on the original Stakeout.
However, to make room for the driver tools, the Stakeout Drive ditches the multi-tool's namesake, the tent puller. However, it does retain the camping-inspired carabiner clip end, which is handy for attaching it to a belt loop or backpack
The Stakeout Drive, like its siblings, remains compact and lightweight with a closed length of 4.3 inches and total weight of 7.4 ounces. The Stakeout Drive is currently available on the Gerber website for $80 in both black and silver color schemes.
