Colombia elects new divided Congress ahead of May presidential vote
In Colombia's congressional elections, preliminary results show President Gustavo Petro's left wing block has come out on top in the senate with the right wing Democratic Center party, founded by former President Álvaro Uribe edging ahead in the House of Representatives. Voters had to fill 102 Senate seats and 182 House seats, as well as choosing presidential candidates from the major parties in a primary style vote, ahead of presidential elections in May.
