Tuesday night at the Laithwaite sees the Cards welcome play-off placed Boreham Wood, as Woking look to continue their momentum following a 3-1 victory over Tamworth at the weekend.

Much like the reverse fixture, Sanderson opened the scoring against the Lambs, with later goals from O’Brien and Ward stealing all three points.

The result meant that, under the interim management of Craig Ross, Jake Hyde, and Dale Gorman, the Cards have picked up a total of four points out of a possible six, and they will certainly be looking to continue their unbeaten start against Boreham Wood.

They will also be hoping to deny the Wood the league double, with the reverse fixture, played on September 27th, seeing Woking slip to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Meadow Park.

Opposition Watch

Earning promotion through the National League South play-offs last season, Boreham Wood made an immediate return to the National League following a 21st-placed finish the season prior.

Now sitting in the top four, Luke Garrard’s side have collected a total of 70 points, with 21 wins out of a possible 36.

Last time out, a high-scoring clash with Brackley Town saw the Wood storm to a 3-0 lead within the opening 25 minutes, but a spirited Saints side fought to draw themselves level by the 55th. The tie saw, however, two more goals, both in favour of Boreham Wood, seeing them win back-to-back league fixtures for the first time this year.

To further boost their confidence, prior to the clash against the Saints, Garrard’s side ended title-chasers York City’s 24-game unbeaten run in the league, with a 3-2 victory at Meadow Park.

To complement a strong league season thus far, the Wood will also compete for silverware in the National League Cup Final later this month, as they take on West Ham United under-21s on March 17th.

They also boast results against League Two’s Crawley Town and Newport County, knocking both sides out of the FA Cup earlier in the season, both with 3-0 victories on home turf.

Although Garrard’s side are certain to be a tough test for the Cards, they do travel to the Laithwaite Community Stadium with recent form that suggests they’ve struggled away from home, having won just once in their last five league clashes as the visitors.

One to Watch

Certainly a danger in front of goal, Matt Rush has hit the back of the net on 27 occasions so far this season, with three FA Cup and four National League Cup goals to complement his 20 in the league.

Last time out, Rush got his side off to a fast start against Brackley Town, taking just four minutes to open the scoring at Meadow Park. In circular fashion, he also closed out the scoring that afternoon, with his 84th-minute strike putting the game to bed.

Rush’s league tally this season sees him sit third in the top goalscorer standings, with only York City’s Ollie Pearce and Rochdale’s Emmanuel Dieseruvwe ahead of him. However, with pressure increasing from behind, he will certainly be looking to increase his tally with his upcoming involvement.

Woking will be aware of the threat he poses, as it was his 32nd-minute goal in the reverse fixture that claimed all three points for the Wood and, at the time, contributed to a period where he netted in five consecutive games for his side.
