Tim Sherwood responds to Tottenham interim job possibility amid Igor Tudor pressure

Tim Sherwood has revealed exactly how he would respond if Tottenham Hotspur were to offer him an interim role amid Igor Tudor’s struggles.

Igor Tudor’s credentials as Tottenham Hotspur manager are now being questioned, following the Croatian’s three losses in a row as Spurs boss.

That poor run of form has increased the pressure on Tottenham, who saw their four-point cushion before Tudor’s appointment cut to one following the 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.

The former Juventus man’s future is now uncertain, with some ex-Tottenham players calling for Tudor to be sacked should the 47-year-old suffer another defeat, with relegation looming large.

Spurs’ stance, however, is that they do not want to make any further managerial changes during the course of the season following Tudor’s recent appointment.

Sherwood reveals stance on possible interim return

Tim Sherwood has now been asked about the prospect of returning to Tottenham in an interim capacity, and he explained why he would be open to accepting the role.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Sherwood said the opportunity to return to north London would be difficult to refuse, although he acknowledged the club is currently in a difficult position.

“Well, the answer is I think it is impossible to turn down, because it is an opportunity to go back to a fantastic football club, but it is broken at the moment, and it needs fixing for the short term.

“We know there is not a long-term future there because Mauricio Pochettino will come to the football club. He will not come, by the way, if they are in the Championship. They might have to look elsewhere for that.”

The former Spurs boss also questioned Tottenham’s recent managerial decisions and suggested the club should prioritise appointing someone with a strong understanding of the Premier League.

“But let us hope they stay in the league, and as I talked about, I thought it was a strange decision with Igor Tudor,” he added.

“Thomas Frank is a very good manager, and he knows the Premier League better than anyone. So, what happened there?

“Ange Postecoglou, who I would never have got rid of in the first place. He won something. You are sacking a winner. Now, I know everyone says he finished 17th in the Premier League, but there was a reason why he finished 17th.

“Perhaps you start looking now, and you think we need to look closer to home here, because the players are not up to it at the moment. The players are not showing what they are capable of doing.”

Spurs searching for answers as relegation pressure grows

Spurs’ next nine games are absolutely crucial as they head into the Premier League run-in.

The Lilywhites sit in 16th place for now, but there is a feeling that could change quickly given the form of West Ham United and Nottingham Forest.

A few names have already been thrown into the mix as potential managers who could help Tottenham out of the relegation scrap.

Former Tottenham forward Darren Bent has urged Spurs to go for Sean Dyche as they battle to retain their Premier League status.

Meanwhile, Richard Keys has suggested Tottenham follow Celtic’s footsteps and appoint a ‘grandad’ coach, naming Glenn Hoddle as the ideal pick.
