Another day on hold for surfers
Hello Friends,
The wind’s still SE and as of 0600 was 13-18 kts under solidly grey skies. At 0600 the MHL buoy was seeing 3.3 metres of 8-sec mainly south swell. As the pictures show, it was nothing like 3 metres at Dee Why. RealSurf’s own weather station recorded 107mm of rain yesterday, so although it wasn’t raining this morning, the water was looking very suss at all the beaches I saw between Manly and Dee Why. And unsurprisingly, Beachwatch has posted Pollution Possible warnings for a number of locations, including Dee Why.
Wind is set to fade across the day and by tomorrow morning it could be smooth for the early. Will the water suddenly be clean and clear too? I very much doubt it. Wednesday currently looks like nice weather and there should be surf too. And after that, the models are showing surf into next week but with winds being the deciding factor on quality.
Have a great Monday!
Weather Situation
Slow moving troughs over the central coastal waters and the far north coast will direct a southeasterly flow to the coastal waters today, tending fresh and gusty across the southern, central, and far north coasts. Winds will gradually ease today and turn east to northeasterly as the troughs decay and a high pressure system slips south. The high will then build over the Tasman Sea and extend a ridge over the coastal waters from Wednesday, maintaining and freshening a northeasterly flow.
