Faizan Global Relief Foundation (FGRF) has so far reached over 20,000 households across Malawi with food packs during the holy month of Ramadhan, with a goal of supporting nearly 100,000 families.
In Mangochi District, FGRF distributed food packs to 4,000 families at Makawa Primary School in Traditional Authority (T/A) Mponda.
Speaking at the event, the organisation’s Director of Public Relations and Communication, Ibrahim Omar Mataya, said the initiative is part of FGRF’s nationwide humanitarian response to support vulnerable Muslim families during the fasting period.
“We want the fasting Muslims to break their fast and observe Suhoor and Iftar with dignity, without the burden of searching for food,” Mataya said.
According to Mataya, the foundation has assisted families across several districts, including 1,700 in Chikunda, 300 in Chiswe, 4,000 in Nsanje, 4,000 in Thyolo, 650 in Kanjedza, 1,000 in Zomba, 4,000 in Salima, and 4,000 in Mangochi.
Beneficiaries welcomed the support.
Sabiti Wilson from Mpemba Village and Miliward Nifa from Makawa Village expressed gratitude for the assistance, highlighting how the donations have eased their Ramadhan preparations.
Each food package included maize flour, beans, rice, soya pieces, and sugar, providing essential items for families to observe Suhoor and Iftar comfortably.
“Our charity work intensifies during Ramadhan to help the needy, in line with the core principles of our faith,” Mataya added.
FGRF’s efforts this year underscore its commitment to supporting Muslim communities nationwide and alleviating food insecurity during one of the most important periods in the Islamic calendar.
