Welcome to The Lighthouse: A school that puts evolution into action!

At The Lighthouse Private School, we aren’t just a school—we are a beacon of educational innovation and transformation. Our mission is to be a living model for the most original ideas in education, providing a roadmap for the future of learning. We believe that if a child doesn’t graduate “thirstier for knowledge than when they started,” then the system has failed them. At Lighthouse, we start at the “edge of Knowledge,” treating ignorance not as an obstacle, but as our most exciting guide.

Our Vision: Empowering the Next Generation of Change-Makers

We are evolutionary thinkers. Our goal is to create empowered, critical-thinking, and socially conscientious citizens who are ready to make a real difference in a complex world.

Agents of Change: Our students don’t just learn about the world; they explore its challenges—from environmental degradation to systemic injustices—and discover their own tremendous potential to create a better one.

Creativity is going to be a fundamental life skill in the future; our goal is to keep this spider alive and swinging

Skills for the Unknown: We are preparing children for jobs that haven’t even been invented yet. Our focus is on meta-skills: creative problem-solving, genuine self-assessment, and irrepressible initiative.

The Future of Thinking: In the age of AI, we teach students that the future isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about how clever and courageous their questions can become.

A Philosophy That Puts the Child First.

Our educational model is built on mutual trust, respect, and the joy of discovery.

Ability-Based Learning: We meet children where they are, not where an age-chart says they “should” be. Our levels may start as age-based but are soon turned to ability-focused, allowing every student to thrive at their own pace.

Small by Design: With classes capped at 16 students, every child receives the personalized attention, differentiation, and support they need to shine.

Celebrating Mistakes: We believe failure is the best path to success! We foster a “growth mindset” where taking risks is encouraged and every mistake is a lesson learned, as this is the core principle of evolution!

The Curriculum: A Global Fusion of Excellence

We’ve hand-picked the best practices from around the world—English, Finnish, and Scottish National Curricula—to create a daily experience that is rigorous, engaging, and deeply relevant.

Project-Based Learning (PBL): In our school, projects aren’t the “dessert” at the end of a unit—they are often the main course! Learning happens through hands-on, inquiry-led investigation where students can also co-create their own after-school “activity grids”.

Skills-Based Lessons: Whether it’s math or art, every lesson is designed to equip students with tools for life. Teachers and learners regularly discuss how these skills apply to the wider world.

AI as a Partner: We embrace AI both as a tool for investigation and as an intelligence in and of itself! Students learn to question AI outputs rather than simply copy them, focusing on the vital skill of “learning how to learn” but also how to ask an even better question.

A Dynamic Environment for Growth

Our new facilities are designed to be as flexible and playful as our teaching methods.

State-of-the-Art Spaces: From our Music and Art rooms to our ICT suite and beautiful library, every corner of The Lighthouse is built to spark creativity.

Outdoor Adventures: With spacious outdoor areas and a football pitch, we ensure that physical movement and play are integral to every day. Behind our school is a large nature area and state park which we access frequently and joyfully.

You can’t truly get out of the box until you first get in! Year 4 is making their own greenhouse from scratch as part of their project to learn biology science math and especially critical thinking skills

Beyond the School Day: The Afternoon Program

The learning doesn’t stop at 14:00! We offer a hot lunch followed by a rich Afternoon Program (14:30–17:30) with a wide range of activities in a safe, familiar, and vibrant environment, giving students more time to explore their passions or find new inspiration.

Join the Evolution!

We invite you to step away from the “mass-production” logic of traditional schooling and join a community that values breadth, depth, and the unique brilliance of every child.7
