Marin movie theater presents special series for Women’s History Month
“Shaping the Future: California Women Across Generations,” Smith Rafael Film Center’s film series for Women’s History Month, will be at 11 a.m. Saturdays in March at the San Rafael theater.
The program kicks off Saturday with “Through Their Eyes: Trailers & Trivia,” hosted by Angela Colabella, CAFILM’s director of education, and Mind the Gap founder Zoë Elton. The event begins with pre-Oscar trivia, followed by a panel of women who will share some of their favorite films. The trailers for their choices will be shown.
The series continues March 14 with “Lady Bird” (2017), Greta Gerwig’s directorial debut, about a teenage girl and her mother in Sacramento in the early 2000s. “The Joy Luck Club” (1993), Wayne Wang’s film adaptation of Marin author Amy Tan’s 1989 bestseller, will be shown on March 21. The series wraps up on March 28 with “20th Century Women” (2016), Mike Mills’ coming-of-age tale set in Southern California in the late 1970s.
All events are $11.25. Go to rafaelfilm.cafilm.org.
