Massachusetts Legislature halts Bill to Expand Abortions
The Massachusetts Legislature has decided not to advance Bill S.1579, a proposal that would have eliminated key parental safeguards and expanded abortion access for minors.
Myrna Maloney Flynn, president of Massachusetts Citizens for Life, praised the decision:
“Every Massachusetts girl is safer today, each parent’s right to protect their daughter reinforced. Our members should be proud. We encouraged them to oppose this proposed legislation, and many of them did just that, testifying at last year’s hearing or submitting written testimony through the MCFL Legislative Action Center.”

MCFL mobilized supporters with a petition campaign and calls for testimony, ensuring the committee heard voices advocating for parental rights and vulnerable minors.
This great news for Massachusetts comes just days after the U.S. Supreme Court handed parents a major nationwide victory in a case involving secret gender transition policies in public schools. The Court affirmed that parents hold “primary authority with respect to ‘the upbringing and education of children,’ including the right not to be shut out of participation in decisions regarding their children’s mental health.”
