Tottenham could land £8.5m bargain as they look to replace Guglielmo Vicario
Tottenham are assessing their options between the posts ahead of the summer window, with uncertainty surrounding Guglielmo Vicario prompting fresh links to a young goalkeeper in France.
Guglielmo Vicario’s future at Tottenham Hotspur is in doubt heading into the summer transfer window.
The Italian has drawn interest from sides in Serie A, with Inter Milan and Juventus showing a keen interest in landing him.
Reports also suggest Vicario is open to a switch to Italy in the summer window amid interest from Inter Milan.
Guglielmo Vicario could be replaced this summer
Spurs could well be in the market for a new shot-stopper and have been linked with a few options. Manchester City’s James Trafford, Sunderland’s Robin Roefs and Noah Atubolu have all been linked with a move to Tottenham.
CaughtOffside are now reporting that a younger keeper in France is on the radar of Spurs heading into the summer transfer window.
21-year-old Robin Risser of Lens is said to be emerging as a serious option, with Spurs understood to be monitoring his progress closely as they assess potential changes between the posts.
The goalkeeper is reported to tick all the boxes for the sort of profile Tottenham are looking to land this summer, offering technical security, distribution from the back and comfort operating as part of the build-up phase.
This is the second time Tottenham have been linked with a move for Risser this month.
Spurs face competition for Robin Risser
Securing the services of the young shot-stopper will be far from straightforward, as his current deal runs until 2030, which means Spurs would likely face firm resistance in negotiations.
However, a steep asking price is not expected, with the player’s relatively modest market valuation, currently estimated at around €10 million (£8.5 million), making him an attainable long-term investment.
Competition for his signature remains, with the likes of Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United also believed to be monitoring his situation.
It is, for sure, an interesting situation given that Tottenham have Antonin Kinsky, who is of a similar age to Risser while also boasting Premier League experience.
