Daryl Hannah Shares First Comments Ever About John F. Kennedy Jr. Romance, Slams New Show 'Love Story' as 'Appalling'
Daryl Hannah is breaking her silence on her relationship with John F. Kennedy Jr. for the first time ever.
If you didn’t know, the 65-year-old Steel Magnolias actress was in an on-and-off relationship with the late magazine publisher for years before calling it quits for good shortly before he started dating late wife Carolyn Bessette.
After all these years, Daryl has never publicly talked about her relationship, but following the release of the new FX and Hulu series Love Story, Daryl released a scathing new essay on Friday (March 6) slamming the series from Ryan Murphy.
Keep reading to find out more…“The character ‘Daryl Hannah’ portrayed in the series is not even a remotely accurate representation of my life, my conduct or my relationship with John,” Daryl wrote for The New York Times. “The actions and behaviors attributed to me are untrue.”
In the series, Dree Hemingway plays Daryl and many have criticized how the Splash actress is portrayed.
“I have long believed that engaging with distortion often amplifies it,” Daryl continued. “But a recent tragedy-exploiting television series about John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette features a character using my name and presents her as me. The choice to present her as irritating, self-absorbed, whiny and inappropriate was no accident.”
Daryl went on to refute multiple moments depicted in the show, including a scene of a cocaine-fueled party with her friends where the drugs have been placed on a priceless Kennedy family heirloom.
“I have never used cocaine in my life or hosted cocaine-fueled parties,” she wrote. “I have never pressured anyone into marriage. I have never desecrated any family heirloom or intruded upon anyone’s private memorial.”
“I have never planted any story in the press,” Daryl continued. “I never compared Jacqueline Onassis’ death to a dog’s. It’s appalling to me that I even have to defend myself against a television show. These are not creative embellishments of personality. They are assertions about conduct — and they are false.”
Daryl wrote, “I’ve endured a number of outrageous lies, crappy stories and unflattering characterizations before. I chose not to battle them but to focus on my work and respect my loved ones by keeping my private life private. But my silence should not be mistaken for agreement with lies.”
Daryl Hannah‘s comments come after JFK Jr.‘s nephew Jack Schlossberg also ripped into Ryan Murphy, calling Love Story “a grotesque display.”
