They explained that the incident took place on Sunday (March 1) around noon. After pulling someone over for a routine stop, “officers discovered that the driver was a wanted person with warrants.”
“While being placed under arrest, the driver advised officers he was making a DoorDash delivery right up the block,” they police department wrote.
Noting that “teamwork makes dreamwork,” the officers realized that they couldn’t leave the waiting customer hungry. So Sgt. Matt Barnett and Ofc. Mike Scheer leapt into action and took the package to the hungry customer.
“And to the resident who answered the door, we are sorry for the surprise and for startling you! We hope lunch was still hot,” they joked, adding, “Just another day serving the Washington Township community… in more ways than one.”
Ring camera video footage provided by the police department show that the homeowner seemed surprised to have police knocking on their door. However, they offered a simple explanation.
“Arrested your driver, but, yeah, we delivered your food,” they said.
