Champions League 2025/26 – Best Bets for the Round of 16
Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain look a good bet the reach the quarter-finals after being paired with Premier League club Chelsea.
The Ligue 1 side needed to navigate through the knockout play-off round to reach this stage of the competition, while Chelsea finished sixth in the league phase.
However, PSG took the same path last season before roaring into life in the knockout stage and they are fancied to repeat the trick this time around.
Elsewhere, Galatasaray could make life difficult for Liverpool in the first leg of their last-16 tie in Turkey. Their 5-2 home victory over Juventus in play-offs highlighted their ability on home soil.
While the Premier League club will be a tougher nut to crack, odds of 3/1 for their first meeting to end all-square looks well worth a punt.
Barcelona are a banker bet to defeat Newcastle United in their last-16 tie, but odds of 2/5 to reach the quarter-finals make limited appeal from a wagering perspective.
However, the La Liga giants can be backed at 11/8 to win the first leg at St James’ Park. They triumphed 2-1 at Newcastle in the group stage and can repeat the trick here.
Having defied expectations to reach this stage of the competition, Bodo/Glimt will head into their tie against Sporting CP believing they can make further progress.
The Norwegian outfit have defeated Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan since the turn of the year, and the last-16 draw has been relatively kind to them.
Sporting are no mugs having finished seventh in the opening phase, but they will not find things easy against a team who have repeatedly shown their mettle in recent weeks.
Odds of 7/4 for Bodo/Glimt to reach the quarter-finals represent good value and the Norwegian fairytale could be set to continue a little longer.
Arsenal are the favourites to win the Champions League and should have little difficulty seeing off Bayer Leverkusen’s challenge in the last-16.
Having said that, odds of 9/4 to lift the trophy are stingy given that the Gunners have never previously won the Champions League. PSG are the value bet at 8/1.
