Six Flags sells 7 smaller parks
Six Flags will unload a handful of its smallest properties to Enchanted Parks so the nation’s largest amusement park chain can better focus on top money-making locations like Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Six Flags will sell seven parks to EPR Properties for $331 million and use the cash to pay down $5.2 billion in debt, the company announced on Thursday, March 5.

The latest Six Flags sale is part of a “portfolio optimization strategy” focused on the amusement and water parks that generate the strongest returns and have the highest growth potential.
“This move allows Six Flags to concentrate on the parks that we believe offer the greatest opportunities for growth and long-term success,” Six Flags CEO John Reilly said in a statement.
The seven Six Flags parks sold in the deal with EPR Properties:
- Valleyfair (Minnesota)
- Michigan’s Adventure
- Six Flags St. Louis (Missouri)
- Worlds of Fun (Missouri)
- Six Flags Great Escape (New York)
- Six Flags La Ronde (Canada)
- Schlitterbahn Galveston (Texas)
News of the impending deal leaked in January when Orlando-based Enchanted Parks registered trademark names that sounded exactly like the Six Flags parks involved in the latest sale, according to Theme Park Insider.
All seven parks will use the Six Flags name and continue their regular operating schedules through 2026. Six Flags season passes for the seven sold parks will be honored through the 2026 season.
Enchanted Parks will run the six U.S. parks in partnership with EPR. La Ronde Operations will manage the Canadian park in partnership with EPR.

The sale will leave Six Flags with a total of 34 parks across North America — with 20 amusement parks and 14 water parks in the remaining portfolio.
Six Flags welcomed 50.3 million visitors across 41 parks in 2024, according to the TEA Global Experience Index attendance report.
The seven Six Flags parks sold in the EPR deal had a collective attendance of 4.5 million visitors in 2025.

The seven parks in the deal represented approximately 9% of Six Flags attendance and collectively generated $260 million in net revenue in 2025.
Six Flags began selling amusement parks in 2025 as part of the portfolio optimization strategy that was implemented after the $8 billion merger with Cedar Fair.
Six Flags closed the Six Flags America amusement park and Hurricane Harbor water park in Maryland after the 2025 season. The two parks sitting on 500 acres in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area will be sold and marketed for redevelopment as part of Six Flags’ ongoing portfolio review.
Six Flags plans to close California’s Great America in Santa Clara in the next few years. The 112 acres underneath California’s Great America was sold in 2022 for approximately $310 million to Prologis, a warehouse and supply chain logistics company. Six Flags continues to lease back the amusement park land from Prologis.
Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain are among the chain’s two biggest attendance draws and aren’t likely to be sold anytime soon.
