It’s the end of the road for Sony’s PC games

Sony’s PC ports have not sold well. As a result, Sony has decided to stop porting its games to PC, according to a report by Bloomberg. The company is also worried that selling its games on PC could impact the Sony PlayStation 5 and the games on that platform. Multiplayer online games, however, may still appear on the PC.

Sony maintains a list of its own games that have been ported to the PC, with the opportunity to buy them from storefronts like Steam and the Epic Games Store. Those games include the rebooted God of War, Days Gone, Horizon: Forbidden West, and the Spider-Man series. However, Sony’s decision will apparently split a series in two: Ghost of Tsushima will remain on PC, but the sequel Ghost of Yotei will be a PlayStation exclusive.

However, GamesIndustry.biz reports that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Kena: Scars of Kosmora are both still scheduled for PC ports, likely making them the final Sony games to arrive on PC.

It’s a big change. Just a few months ago, there was talk of Sony allowing consumers to buy a single game, then receive ports on both the PS5 and PC as part of the purchase. Apparently, Sony’s goal of making its games ubiquitous has ended, too, a few years after the PlayStation Plus service allowed you to play PlayStation games on your PC.

Sony declined to comment to Bloomberg.
