Shrimp-like marine species detected in Aryjapalli

Marine science researchers from Berhampur University have discovered a rare marine amphipod, Stenothoe lowryi, for the first time in Indian waters at Arjyapalli. This shrimp-like species, previously recorded only in Malaysia, was identified from eight specimens collected from a rocky habitat. The findings have been published in the Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom.
