Finance Minister Mwanamvekha Co-Chairs Steering Committee Meeting on Inclusive Digital Transformation Project
Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralization, Joseph Mathyola Mwanamvekha, is co-chairing a Steering Committee meeting for the Inclusive Digital Transformation for Malawi (IDT4M) project at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
The meeting, which has brought together senior government officials and development partners, is being co-chaired alongside United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative, Fenella Frost.
The IDT4M initiative is aimed at narrowing Malawi’s digital divide by expanding access to digital services and promoting inclusive participation in the country’s digital transformation agenda.
The project seeks to strengthen digital systems, improve connectivity and ensure that citizens, including those in underserved communities, benefit from technological advancements.
The programme is a joint initiative between the Government of Malawi and UNDP.
Among those attending the meeting are Cabinet Ministers Ben Phiri, Peter Mukhito, Shadric Namalomba and Roza Fatch Mbilizi.
Others are Deputy Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare Martha Ngwira; Malawi Electoral Commissioner Annabel Mtalimanja; senior government officials; representatives of the European Union; ambassadors; and heads of diplomatic missions.
The Steering Committee is expected to provide strategic guidance on the implementation and progress of the project.
