Mauricio Pochettino looks set to be offered the managerial position at Tottenham Hotspur this summer, once Igor Tudor has departed.
The Argentine’s return almost feels orchestrated by Spurs, with the decision to only hire an interim manager leading nicely into the summer when Pochettino’s US contract expires.
However, Tottenham would not have anticipated the possibility of relegation from the Premier League, but this continues to look even more realistic, even with Tudor at the helm.
With uncertainty around the club’s future in the English top flight, this has led to discussion over whether Pochettino would actually be interested in returning to North London.

“Before I die, I want to manage Tottenham and win a title,” were the words Pochettino uttered after being sacked by his former club.
The Championship might not be the title he had in mind, but the important thing here is Pochettino’s emotional connection with Spurs.
This summer could be the last chance he is given to take charge of Tottenham, which is something he clearly wishes to do.
Of course, turning them into a Premier League-winning team from the Championship is not a fast-paced project, but Claudio Ranieri showed with Leicester City that it can be done.
Ultimately, Pochettino has had limited success in management since leaving Spurs, and it feels like he would take the job no matter what… if it is offered to him.
Why Pochettino would have a huge advantage outside the Premier League
The Spurs fans would already be delighted to have Pochettino back at the club before a ball was kicked, and things would get a lot better in his first season.
While Tudor was brought into a dire situation, Pochettino would have the chance to win the Championship straight away, which would earn him a lot of favour.
He would be viewed as the man who dragged Spurs up from the lowest moment in the club’s history. On top of this, eventually qualifying for Europe through the Premier League would mean more than ever.
There would be plenty for Pochettino to gain at Tottenham, and leading them to a major trophy would taste even sweeter if he started out in the second tier. It would truly be an even greater story than going from being a Europa League team to Champions League finalists.
