Dozens of flights still cancelled at Cyprus’ airports
Dozens of the passenger flights which had been scheduled to arrive at or depart from the Republic of Cyprus’ two passenger airports were cancelled on Wednesday, the airports’ operator Hermes Airports said, with the island’s airspace feeling the effects of the ongoing regional conflict.
It said that in total, 66 flights had been cancelled, with 103 expected nonetheless to go ahead as planned.
Of those 66 cancellations, 48 concerned flights to or from Larnaca, while the remainder concerned flights to or from Paphos, while of the 103 operating flights, 65 are operating in or out of Larnaca, while 38 are operating in or out of Paphos.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Larnaca’s air links with 22 countries remain intact, with most of those destinations located in continental Europe.
Paphos, meanwhile, retains its air links with 13 countries, with all destinations except for the United Kingdom located in continental Europe.
Wizz Air has confirmed that the suspension of all flights to and from Israel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Amman has been extended up to and including Sunday, 15 March. Flights from the UK to Jeddah and Medina will recommence as planned from 8 March.
Hermes Airports said that people who have travel plans should visit the websites of their airlines or contact their travel agents before heading to the airport.
Live arrival and departure information for Larnaca airport and Paphos airport is available on Hermes Airports’ website.
