Tottenham discover next referee after two weeks of controversial push decisions
The Premier League has now confirmed the referee for the Tottenham versus Crystal Palace clash on Thursday amid recent Spurs controversies.
Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League action on Thursday evening when Crystal Palace visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs will hope this fixture proves a turning point in 2026, a year in which they have yet to register a league win.
However, Palace are no pushovers and arrive in stronger form than Tottenham, who have just two wins in their last 19 matches and have taken a single point from their previous five games.
Oliver Glasner’s side, by contrast, has recorded two wins in their last five Premier League outings.
Tottenham fixtures: Premier League confirm Andy Madley as Crystal Palace referee
Spurs have also been embroiled in controversy over refereeing decisions in their last two matches.
Tottenham have since written to the PGMOL chief seeking clarity over inconsistencies in decision-making in the Premier League this season, and attention will inevitably fall on the officials appointed for this encounter after the league confirmed the matchday team.
According to the official Premier League site, Andy Madley is set to take charge of Tottenham versus Crystal Palace, assisted by Craig Taylor and Mark Scholes.
Ruebyn Ricardo has been named as the fourth official, with Nick Hopton on VAR duty alongside assistant VAR Lee Betts.
Spurs record under Andy Madley ahead of Crystal Palace clash
Spurs hold a respectable record in matches officiated by Andy Madley, despite him overseeing relatively few of their games.
He has taken charge of 11 Tottenham fixtures, with Spurs winning six, losing four and drawing one.
Notably, he has not handed a Tottenham player a straight red in those matches, although there has been one instance where two yellow cards resulted in a dismissal.
Crystal Palace have had Madley in charge of 20 matches, winning six, drawing six and losing eight. He has issued two straight red cards to Palace players, as well as two dismissals following second yellow cards.
Tottenham will now be hoping they can make it seven wins from 12 games with Madley in charge as they battle to stay in the Premier League this season.
