Now just $79 thanks to a new 50% discount, the Patagonia Better Sweater Fleece Jacket is one of the most sensible buys you can score right now, as we head toward spring. At REI, we're seeing the handsome Dried Vanilla, a red-brown color, on sale. At Patagonia, it's the Scales Old Growth Green color (marked at 40% off), which is a signature funky print. Sizes XS to 3XL are still in stock, but we're guessing that won't be the case for too much longer.

This hardy sweater-knit fleece is made from recycled polyester and features an ideal medium weight of 1.5 pounds, giving it just enough substantial feel to cut the wind without being overly heavy or bulky. It's the perfect midlayer to opt for as temps start to rise, and has all the essentials, like a stand-up collar, zippered hand pockets, as well as a vertical zip chest pocket, and uses raglan sleeves for improved mobility. Its flat seam build reduces friction, while the cuffs and hem have added trim to increase longevity.
The Better Sweater is one of the brand’s three most iconic fleece jackets, along with the heritage-worthy Retro-X and the more modern tech-based R1 fleece.
