Police officer, two others injured in Emeryville dog attack
EMERYVILLE – Three people, including an officer, were injured in a dog attack over the weekend in Emeryville, police said.
The Emeryville Police Department said it received numerous reports of dogs fighting at the Pak ’N Save Foods in the 3800 block of San Pablo Avenue around 8:50 a.m. Sunday. Callers said three of the canines were aggressive and attacking bystanders.
Officers contacted the owner of the dogs and launched an investigation, police said, adding that they discovered two people had been bitten and required medical attention.
One of the dogs then bit an officer on the leg, police said. A Taser was used to stop the attack and the officer was taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries.
The dogs, meanwhile, were seized and taken to the Berkeley Animal Shelter for an evaluation.
