‘Morning Joe’ Reports MAGA Enthusiasm Has ‘Fallen Through the Floor’ Over Iran War, Epstein Files | Video

The hosts of MS NOW’s “Morning Joe” reported Tuesday that Republican and MAGA voters’ enthusiasm for their own party has “fallen through the floor” in the wake of the ongoing controversies surrounding the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein Files and the recently ignited war in Iran.

“It’s hard for me to imagine a worse one-two punch to depress your base,” host Joe Scarborough said Tuesday, referencing President Trump’s contradictory statements about war in the Middle East before and after the 2024 presidential election. “That’s the one punch,” Scarborough noted. “The two punch is the Epstein Files, is belief among the MAGA online that the Justice Department, a rightful belief, is covering up and protecting rich and powerful men.”

“When you look at the current Republican problem in all these special elections around the country … Dems are over-performing by 12.5 points,” Messina Group CEO and “Morning Joe” panelist Jim Messina added. “When you look at why, it’s not just Democratic enthusiasm. Republican enthusiasm has fallen through the floor.”

“Voters are really angry about this. 19% of Independents say this Iran thing is a good idea,” Messina continued. “They’re just screaming out for both parties to focus on them and not foreign wars.” You can watch the full “Morning Joe” segment yourself in the video below.

The Washington Post columnist and fellow “Morning Joe” panelist David Ignatius was subsequently asked whether there is still the possibility the Iran War could lead to a good enough outcome that Trump will be able to sell it as a win to the American people. In his response, Ignatius first noted that will depend largely on the “level of American casualties” that are sustained in the conflict.

“I still don’t hear a clear account of what the end game is. They keep talking about what their objectives are, but they’re things like, ‘Depleting the number of missiles and bombing a nuclear program’ that, by their own account, was already obliterated,” Ignatius added. “I think through this week, as the fighting intensifies, so too will the explanation to the American people. If it’s as confusing as it was yesterday, I think [the Trump administration] have a problem.”

Near the end of the segment, Messina was asked how the internal conflicts within the Republican party could manifest themselves in this year’s midterm elections. “What I’m going to be looking at is two things: Are the young men coming back? Are they voting at all? Because that’s a really important number,” Messina replied. “More importantly in Texas, where are the Latinos going?”

“When you look at some of these special elections, Dems are getting back the young voters and back the Latino voters that Donald Trump rented in 2024,” Messina concluded. “If the Latinos are starting to come back to the Democratic Party, in Texas of all places, that is a very good sign for the Democrats in the midterm elections.”
