Dartford Football Club to host first-ever music event I Love Dartford at Princes Park Stadium
A football club will be hosting its first-ever house and soul music event as it celebrates 20 years at its home ground.
Dartford FC will be putting on I Love Dartford at Princes Park Stadium in Darenth Road to mark the anniversary.
Director Gareth Morgan said: “The ground opened in November 20 years ago, so we’re looking at doing a few different things to celebrate that.
“It’s a massive thing for the area and for Dartford, having a community stadium that benefits the community in lots of different ways.
“We’re also looking at different ways of bringing revenue into the club. It’s quite an important thing for all non-league clubs these days to utilise what they’ve got and to make better use of the facilities.
“So we came up with this as an idea to try and get a few extra people into the ground at a time where we wouldn’t normally have much going on.”
Headlining the event will be American DJ and record producer Todd Terry, famous for tracks such as Jumpin and Something Goin’ On, alongside a host of DJs with “strong links to the Dartford club scene”.
Gareth explained: “We’ve got a lot of DJs playing who are known for bringing house music to clubbers in Dartford over the last 30 years plus.
“The idea is that we’re reviving some memories for clubbers and bringing a Dartford feel to the event. We wanted it to have this Dartford flavour.
“We’re hoping that we can encourage lots of people that want to come and look at something a bit different.”
The event will be held directly on the pitch on May 24, over the bank holiday weekend, with food stalls and drinks available throughout the day.
Gates will open at 3pm, with music from 4pm until 10pm.
Early bird tickets are available now for £16.50 plus a booking fee, with VIP tickets costing £35.
This event is open to over-14s at a cost of £10, however those aged between 14 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
Car parking tickets are available on a first come first served basis. More information can be found here.
Gareth added: “It’s early days, but, supporters wise, I think a lot of people are encouraged that we’re trying to do something different.
“It’s been pretty positive so far, all in all, and we’ve got three months to go, so a long way to go – but we’re really excited’.”
