One dead after train and car crash on level crossing in Ely
A person has died after a crash involving a car and a train today at Dimmocks Cote level crossing in Ely, Cambridgeshire.
Officers and paramedics arrived on the scene around 10.15am, but a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person is being treated for minor injuries.
A BTP spokesperson said: ‘We were called at around 10.15am this morning to reports of a collision involving a train and a car at Dimmocks Cote level crossing in Ely.
‘Enquiries are ongoing to identify the person and inform their next of kin. Another person is receiving treatment for minor injuries.’
Witnesses who haven’t spoken to police have been urged to reach out to help officers establish the circumstances of what happened.

As a result, rail passengers face a ‘major disruption’ through Cambridgeshire.
There are currently no trains running between Cambridge and Ely, and disruption is expected until at least 4pm.
The A1123 Newmarket Road is also closed in both directions whilst the incident is dealt with.
