Elderly woman injured in Limassol home robbery
A 77-year-old woman was injured during a home robbery in Limassol in the early hours of Tuesday, during which jewellery and a mobile phone were stolen, police said.
Police were alerted at around 1.30am and attended the woman’s residence, where she was found at the front door with a head injury.
She told officers that she experienced two power outages during the night and stepped outside to check the electricity switch. After returning to her home following the second outage, she noticed that a bedroom had been disturbed.
At that point, an unknown man wearing a black hood appeared, struck her on the head and stole two gold chains from her neck, as well as her mobile phone.
The woman was transported by ambulance to a private hospital in Limassol. Doctors said she had sustained a head contusion and abrasions and kept her for further monitoring as a precaution.
Limassol police are investigating the case, which involves robbery, burglary, unlawful entry and causing actual bodily harm. Examinations are ongoing.
