Three winners and three losers from Tottenham’s 2-1 Premier League defeat to Fulham

Tottenham Hotspur have suffered yet another setback in the Premier League after failing to complete a comeback following a dreadful first half performance vs Fulham.

Let’s take a look at the three winners and losers from a London derby which was already a foregone conclusion by half-time.

Richarlison scored on his Tottenham return

It remains unknown what the future holds for Richarlison, but no one can knock his efforts for Tottenham Hotspur this season.

The Brazilian made his return from injury after coming off the bench against Fulham and scored his ninth Premier League goal of the season.

Archie Gray’s exceptional cross was key to providing Richarlison with his chance, but he made no mistake with the header and gave Spurs hope of getting something from the game.

Mathys Tel proved he should be starting for Spurs

There have not really been many standout moments from Mathys Tel when he has looked like he should be one of the first names on the team sheet.

However, the Frenchman looks bright when he plays on the left wing and certainly contributed more than most after coming off the bench on Sunday.

Tel went on a run which played a part in Tottenham’s only goal of the game and he offered more than the player he replaced. There was nothing particularly brilliant about his performance, but there was nothing even remotely good about plenty of the other members in the Spurs team.

Souza could help Tottenham function better

It was not expected that Souza would be making first-team appearances this early into his Tottenham career, but he has benefitted from the injuries of his teammates.

The 18-year-old played the final 10 minutes against Fulham and having a natural left-back play in his preferred position certainly made Spurs look like a more balanced team.

Igor Tudor should definitely consider starting Souza against Crystal Palace, as doing so could help his side maintain a more organised structure.

And now we move onto the losers…

Conor Gallagher produced another poor display

Fulham’s first goal was controversial, but it could have been prevented if Conor Gallagher had been able to head the ball clear instead of moving it into an area of even greater danger.

Outside of that, the Englishman was no better in his wide role and was taken off after an hour of doing absolutely nothing yet again.

It cannot be easy for Gallagher adjusting to this dreadful Tottenham team, but for a player bringing in £200,000 per week, he should be doing a lot more.

Randal Kolo Muani failed to build on his North London derby performance

As disappointing as Tottenham were against Arsenal, Randal Kolo Muani scored a very good equaliser and he had a goal chalked off which arguably should have stood.

However, the striker showed none of that quality against Fulham and failed to land a single shot on target before he was hooked off after 58 minutes.

After one good game, it felt like Muani went straight back to his standard Premier League showing of failing to cause any kind of attacking threat.

Xavi Simons was a waste of space on the left wing

If Spurs needed a left winger who would have barely any touches while failing to impact the game, they should have just kept Brennan Johnson.

Xavi Simons has clearly shown he is a long way off his best when he plays out wide and yesterday was no exception.

The 22-year-old did nothing of note in either attack or defence and was rightly replaced by Tel, who offered more in half-an-hour than Simons did in an hour.
