Fire breaks out on wooden roof of house

A fire broke out shortly after midnight on the wooden roof of a house in Ayios Theodoros, the fire service reported on Monday.

Four fire engines from the Larnaca district responded after a call was received reporting the blaze at three minutes past midnight.

Part of the wooden roof was damaged by the flames and heat, while the fire was brought under control by 00:52.

Authorities confirmed that the residents noticed the fire in time and exited safely, without injury.

The fire brigade said the fire was caused by a defective construction of the fireplace chimney.
