CENTCOM Confirms Three US F-15 Fighter Jets Downed in Kuwait
CENTCOM confirmed three US F-15 jets were downed in Kuwait during intense combat operations involving Iranian missiles and drones.
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that three American F-15 fighter jets crashed in Kuwait during active military operations, attributing the incident to “friendly fire.”
In a statement, CENTCOM said the incident occurred during intense combat involving aircraft operations, ballistic missile threats, and Iranian drone attacks. According to the statement, the US Air Force jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwait’s air defense systems amid the ongoing confrontation.
The command stressed that all six crew members aboard the three aircraft survived the incident and are currently in stable condition. Officials described the situation as an operational accident during a complex and fast-moving battle environment.
CENTCOM added that the Kuwaiti government has acknowledged the incident. The US military command expressed appreciation for Kuwait’s defensive efforts and its support during operations targeting Iran.
Earlier in the day, Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that three American fighter jets had crashed in the capital but did not specify the cause at the time.
Iranian state-affiliated media, however, claimed that the jets were brought down by Iranian missile strikes, contradicting the US military’s account and further intensifying competing narratives surrounding the incident.
Kuwait hosts key American military facilities and has long served as a strategic hub for US operations in the Gulf region. The presence of advanced air defense systems reflects heightened security concerns amid escalating tensions with Iran.
The confirmation comes amid rising regional hostilities, with increased exchanges involving missiles and drones. The situation has fueled fears of broader military escalation between Washington and Tehran.
