Carrick is 'absolutely delighted' for one Man Utd star, he has 'huge potential'
Manchester United powered their way to the third position in the Premier League after a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.
The Red Devils were handed an early blow after Maxence Lacroix fired Palace ahead.
The contest changed its course when Lacroix was given his marching orders after bringing Matheus Cunha down inside the penalty box.
Bruno Fernandes stepped up to equalise from the spot before Benjamin Sesko scored yet another match-winning goal.
United head coach Michael Carrick made a big change to the starting XI, allowing Sesko to spearhead the attack while dropping Amad Diallo to the bench.
The former midfielder lavished praise on the young striker after the game.
He said (via ManUtd.com): “Absolutely delighted for Ben. He’s desperate to do well, he works so hard, he’s an absolute pleasure to work with.
“Today, he started and it was it was an absolutely fantastic goal, he’s bringing an awful lot.
“He’s got some great strengths. He’s such a real threat. I’m really excited about where he can get to, without getting too carried away. He’s got huge potential, he’s so young, it’s still early days but he’s doing fantastic at the moment.”
Sesko silencing his critics in style
The 22-year-old netted a classic centre-forward goal.
When he saw Fernandes lining up for a cross, he made a run between the two Palace centre-backs before haulting and moving in front to fire a thunderous header.
He could have had found the net in the first half in a similar fashion but he powered it straight at goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
Sesko also used his towering frame to dominate aerial battles, winning six of his seven duels.
He was barely involved before the break, having just seven touches of the ball. However, he was determined to make his mark in his first start under Carrick.
His fantastic display helped him earn an 8/10 rating in our post-match analysis.
With six goals in his last seven games, Sesko is silencing the pundits who were quick to criticise him.
