Iran Says It Will Decide End of War as US, Israel Strikes Enter Third Day
Iran’s foreign minister said Tehran will determine how and when the war ends as joint US and Israeli attacks continued for a third consecutive day.
Abbas Araghchi wrote on X that Iran has spent two decades studying US military failures near its eastern and western borders and has drawn lessons from them. He said the ongoing bombardment of the capital has had no impact on Tehran’s military capabilities or its ability to continue fighting.
Araghchi stressed that Iran’s “decentralized multilayered defense” allows the country to control the timing and manner of ending the conflict. His remarks came amid escalating regional tensions and widening military exchanges.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump told American media that Iran’s new leaders have expressed willingness to engage in talks with him and that he agreed to speak with them. In an interview with The Atlantic, Trump said, “They want to talk and I have agreed, so I will speak with them,” adding that such steps should have been taken earlier.
The joint US-Israeli strikes have targeted missile and nuclear-related sites, as well as senior Iranian political and defense figures, including Ali Khamenei, according to reports. The attacks have entered their third day with no sign of de-escalation.
In response, Iran has launched strikes against US military bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, drawing condemnation and concern from regional governments.
Tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel have surged in recent months over Tehran’s nuclear program and regional influence, raising fears of a broader Middle East conflict.
Previous confrontations between the sides have often been limited and indirect, but the latest exchange marks one of the most direct and expansive escalations in years.
