Alexis Stone Makes Bizarre Jim Carrey Impersonation Claim
Alexis Stone, a well-known drag performer and makeup artist, has made a bizarre Jim Carrey impersonation claim on Instagram, adding to the mystery of the legendary comedian's unusual appearance at a Paris awards show.
When Jim Carrey (at least everyone thought it was Jim Carrey) appeared at the Cesar Awards in Paris on February 26, videos and photos of the man went viral. Many social media users commented that Carrey did not look completely like himself, with people noting differences in his eyes and speculating that he had plastic surgery. Some people declared Carrey unrecognizable.
Conspiracy theories exploded on TikTok and other social media accounts. "Jim Carrey doesn't look, sound or behave like Jim Carrey. Actors playing actors," wrote one X user after the Carrey videos went viral. One video of Carrey's different appearance has 15 million views. And now, into that debate, enters Stone.
"Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris," Stone wrote on Instagram on March 1, posting a series of photos showing a man people thought was Jim Carrey, along with a mask, makeup, and false teeth. Now, no one is quite sure what is going on.
Celebrities & Fans Filled Alexis Stone's Comment Thread, Asking Whether the Claim Was Real
Megan Fox was among those who responded on Stone's comment thread. "Can’t handle any more stress right now i need to know if this is real," she wrote. Stone has 1.3 million followers on Instagram.
"God I want to believe this so bad!" wrote a fan. "Did I just have 100 fights defending Jim Carrey's plastic surgery decisions for nothing?!?!?! ????" another person responded. "The conspiracy theorists have had a FIELD DAY because of you ????????" added another person.
But some people wanted more evidence. "Nah, we need more proof. Show us some video footage of the process," a person wrote.
"Prove it," wrote Ricky Berwick.

Stone also posted a video dancing in a Paris square as an Instagram story.
According to The Tribune,"Carrey accepted an honorary award at the ceremony and delivered his speech entirely in French, performing his signature animated facial expressions on stage. Observers noted that such expressions would be difficult to achieve while wearing a prosthetic mask, raising doubts about the impersonation claim."

Indeed, Variety, a respected trade publication in Hollywood, reported that Jim Carrey, the actor, did indeed accept the honorary award and give a speech in French. “As an actor, each character you play is like clay in the sculptor’s hands, which you shape to your heart’s desire," Carrey said in French, according to Variety. Carrey thanked his family.

Don't look to social media for answers about the claim. Carrey, the actor, is not active on social media. He has not commented on Stone's claim. Grok gave two different accounts on X, with one saying the person at the Cesar awards was the actor, and the other saying it was the impersonator.
People on social media are divided about whether they believe Stone. Of course, it's also possible that the real Carrey took the stage, and Stone was also impersonating him outside the venue.
Alexis Stone Has Posed as Famous Characters Before
Obviously, Jim Carrey is a real person. But making the story more potentially plausible, Stone has posed as well-known Hollywood characters before.

In 2024, Stone posted a video showing an impersonation of legendary actor Jack Nicholson, complete with white bathrobe, at another awards show. Stone has also appeared as Cruella, resembling actress Glenn Close, and posed as Jocelyne Wildenstein. Stone even dressed as the Mona Lisa.
