Jim Carrey's 'Unrecognizable' New Look Has Shocked The Internet
Jim Carrey made a rare public appearance at the César Awards in Paris on February 26, with many fans surprised by his "unrecognizable" new look.
The beloved actor attended the Césars to receive an honorary career achievement award, Variety reports. He was introduced by Michel Gondry, who directed him in 2004's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
The Internet Is Calling Jim Carrey's New Look "Unrecognizable"
Jim Carrey announced his professional retirement from acting back in 2022, before making a brief return for 2024's Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Since stepping back from the spotlight, Carrey's public appearances have been much more infrequent.
At the César Awards, Carrey appeared with much longer hair than usual, wearing a dark shirt, tie, and jacket. The transformation shocked fans, many of whom will remember his last public appearance for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November 2025.
The internet quickly voiced their surprise at Carrey's new look. One X user wrote: "There is no way that's Jim Carrey", while another account joked: "This is some Truman Show stuff."
Take a look at Carrey's bold new transformation below:
Jim Carrey gave a touching speech in French when accepting his honorary award, explaining that his great-great grandfather Marc François Carrey left France around 300 years ago for Canada, where the actor was born.
The actor also paid tribute to his father, Percy Joseph Carrey, calling him the funniest man he'd ever known and crediting him with much of his sense of humor. Carrey ended the speech with a display of some of his iconic facial expressions, sending an eruption of laughter through the audience.
Carrey has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with Hollywood in recent years; in a 2018 interview with THR, the actor admitted that he wanted to distance himself from the growing influence of monopolous cinema organizations.
