Cause of Death for 'Lil Jon's Son
Lil Jon's son, Nathan Smith, was found dead in a Georgia pond three days after being reported missing.
Cause of Death
The medical examiner in Georgia listed Smith's death as a "drowning in the setting of psilocybin use," and this was ruled an accident.
Psilocybin, aka magic mushrooms, caused auditory and visual distortions that can make people lose their sense of time and space, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Smith, who created music as DJ Young Slade, started DJing at a young age and was considered to be massively talented. In 2020, he graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts’ Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.
He was reported missing on Feb. 3 and was discovered in a nearby pond a few days later.
The Kindest Human Being, His Dad Said
Lil Jon wrote a heartbreaking statement that was published in Billboard following his son's death.
"I am extremely heartbroken for the tragic loss of my son, Nathan Smith," the Atlanta native wrote. "His mother and I are devastated. Nathan was the kindest human being you would ever meet. He was immensely caring, thoughtful, polite, passionate, and warmhearted — he loved his family and the friends in his life to the fullest."
