A Prayer For The One Starting Over (Again)
Finding peace starts with surrendering our worries to the universe and trusting that God’s guidance will meet us in the middle of our uncertainty. Best-selling author of Finding God Every Day, Rebecca Simon, reminds us to trust God’s timing, embrace patience, and lean on His presence through every season of life.
Every fresh start is evidence of strength you forget you have. Every small step is a quiet declaration that you still believe life can be different. And God meets you in that place — not when everything is polished, but right here in the rawness of not knowing what comes next. You don’t have to rush. You don’t have to pretend you aren’t scared. You only have to trust that you’re not stepping into this chapter alone.
This new beginning doesn’t erase what you’ve gone through, but it does mean something beautiful is still possible. Take your time. Let yourself breathe. Let yourself hope a little again. God is walking with you, and that makes this restart holy.
God,
You know how hard it is to begin again – not just once, but over and over. You know the disappointment that comes with having to rebuild, the tiredness that settles in when things fall apart, and the fear of wondering if this time will be any different. Thank you for understanding the parts of my heart that feel both hopeful and hesitant at the same time.
As I start over, I ask for strength that doesn’t shame me for needing it. Give me courage to take the next small step even when I don’t see the whole path. Remind me that beginning again is not failure – it’s evidence that I haven’t given up. It’s proof that you are not finished with my story.
Heal the places inside of me that make me doubt myself. Lift the weight of past mistakes so I don’t carry them into this new beginning. Guide me away from what is familiar but harmful, and towards what is new but aligned with who you are shaping me to be. Let this fresh start be gentler than the ones before it. Let it be rooted in wisdom instead of fear, and intention instead of survival.
Walk with me into this new chapter, God. Quiet my worries. Settle my spirit. Remind me that I don’t have to have everything figured out to take a step forward. I am not starting over alone — I am starting over with you.
Amen.
