Kabul Announce Fresh Wave of Attacks Against Pakistan in Border Areas of Khost and Paktia
According to reports from Kabul, forces have restarted attacks on Pakistani border posts in Khost and Paktia, as Islamabad warns of decisive retaliation.
A spokesman for the Taliban governor in Khost province said the forces have resumed attacks on Pakistani military posts along the border. The announcement signals a renewed phase of cross-border fighting between the two sides.
According to state-run Radio Television Afghanistan, the attacks began in the districts of Zazi Maidan, Ali Sher, and Terezi in Khost province. Local Taliban officials in Paktia also reported a new of retaliatory strikes on Pakistani security checkpoints in Dand-e Patan district.
Taliban authorities claim the operations are a response to earlier Pakistani airstrikes and artillery fire, describing their actions as defensive measures aimed at protecting Afghanistan territory.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has previously alleged that dozens of Pakistani soldiers were killed and several posts captured during recent clashes, though these claims remain unverified by independent sources.
Pakistani officials, however, maintain that their military operations were launched in response to security threats originating from across the border. Islamabad says its actions are focused on safeguarding national security and countering militant activity.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry has warned that any further provocations will draw a firm and proportionate response, emphasizing that Pakistan reserves the right to act in self-defense under international law.
Tensions between Kabul and Islamabad have escalated in recent days following airstrikes, drone incidents, and intensified exchanges of fire along the frontier. Both sides accuse each other of initiating hostilities.
